Collection: Chicago Hardware Foundry
Founded in 1897 in North Chicago, Illinois, the Chicago Hardware Foundry Company (CHF) earned a reputation for producing rugged, dependable cast iron cookware built to stand the test of time. The foundry manufactured skillets, Dutch ovens, griddles, chicken fryers, gem pans, kettles, and a wide variety of other cast iron cookware, all known for their durability and excellent cooking performance.
Chicago Hardware Foundry pieces are prized for their high-quality iron, smooth cooking surfaces, outstanding heat retention, and solid craftsmanship. Their cookware was designed for everyday use, and many pieces are still cooking meals more than a century later.
The company's story came to an unfortunate end in 1938. After a workers' strike disrupted operations, a devastating fire swept through the foundry, causing extensive damage. Rather than rebuild, the company permanently closed its doors, bringing an end to one of America's respected cast iron manufacturers.
Although the foundry never reopened, Chicago Hardware Foundry cookware lives on. Today, these well-crafted pieces are highly sought after by collectors and home cooks alike, valued for their quality, durability, and the remarkable history they carry into every kitchen.
